Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy remake gets cast

Got a rabbit to pull out of your hat, Percy? You’ve got that Britain-can-make-it look about you. Very intimidating.”  – Bill Haydon, from Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

From Variety – A remake of John Le Carre’s 1974 bestseller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is well underway, with Gary Goldman, Ralph Fiennes, Colin Firth and Michael Fassbender set to star. This espionage thriller takes place in the aftermath of the Cold War and follows a mole hunt within the highest echelons of the British Secret Intelligence Service. Swedish helmer Tomas Alfredson (Let The Right One In) has already signed on to direct the pic, which will begin lensing in October in London. Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon) penned the adaptation. Working Title and StudioCanal are producing.

Smiley: What are you going to do about it?
Control: Depends on “it”. I’ll wait for “it” to show itself.

Even being the die-hard fan of the legendary 70’s miniseries that I am – it starred the impeccable Alec Guinness, and Patrick Stewart delivered the most intense five minute acting performance you’ll ever see – this remake has me very, very excited. Oldman, Moran AND Alfredson?!? Yes, please!
