From THR – The duo behind The Matrix and Speed Racer have a new project in their sights: a modern, urban take on the Robin Hood myth. Proceeding with their usual cloak of secrecy, not much is known about the project from Andy and Lana (formerly Larry) Wachowski, only that it’s set at Warner Brothers and Joel Silver is producing, as usual. The script is finished and out to actors, one of whom is reportedly Will Smith.
Given the Wachowski style, at least we have a pretty good idea of what it’s going to look like – and given the recent spate of epic Robin Hood failures, it’s not like we’re not prepared for the worst…
Also interesting is Twitch‘s speculation that Robin Hood could be just the commercial studio deal the Wachowskis need to unlock funding for Cobalt Neural 9, their small, experimental film that looks back on the Iraq War from the perspective of future archaeologists.
