Just when you thought you couldn’t get any more excited for the Sherlock Holmes sequel – Robert Downey Jr. back in the bowler hat AND rumors of Daniel Day Lewis playing Moriarty!?! – now DHD is reporting Noomi Rapace, the actress who delivered a tour de force performance as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish adaptation of Steig Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tatto trilogy, has closed a deal to make her English language debut as the female lead in Sherlock Holmes 2.
Whoever is casting this movie, I salute you – this is brilliant!
So we’ve got Robert Downey Jr., an actor who has been Oscar nominated multiple times, Jude Law, another multiple nominee, Daniel Day-Lewis, an Oscar winner, and Noomi Rapace, who already is getting heat as a lead contender for this year’s Leading Actress Oscar. Talk about an embarrassment of riches!
Really, all it would take is a dash of Alan Rickman to complete my utter casting happiness.
The wait for December 16, 2011 just got a little longer…
