Miranda Otto to star in Locke & Key

From DHD – This project keeps sounding better and better. Hailing from 20th Century Fox, Dreamworks TV, and producers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, Fox’s Locke & Key pilot has landed none other than Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings, War of the Worlds) for the starring role. Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) wrote the pilot and will serve as showrunner if the project goes forward; Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) is in negotiations to direct.

Based on Joe Hill’s comic, Locke & Key tells the story of Nina Locke (Otto) and her three children, Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode, who survive an unspeakable horror and attempt to rebuild their lives at Keyhouse, their family home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. They discover their new home has fantastic and transformative keys hidden inside its walls, and those keys are sought by a relentless, hate-filled creature with ties to the Locke family’s past, who will stop at nothing to get them.

Graphic Novel trailer:

Locke & Key was nominated for an Eisner award for best limited series and is written by none other than Stephen King’s son.

Given the success of The Walking Dead, this one is looking like a shoo-in for a series order…
