Lionsgate steps up for Chaos Walking

From Deadline – After years of politely saying no to movie deals, Patrick Ness finally has said yes. Lionsgate, the studio behind The Hunger Games feature adaptation, has nabbed the rights to Ness’ hot YA dystopian trilogy, Chaos Walking, with Doug Davison (The Departed, How to Train your Dragon) set to produce.

While not in the same stratosphere of popularity as The Hunger Games, the Chaos Walking trilogy is nonetheless very successful in its own right – not to mention it has garnered loads of critical acclaim: all three books were shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, with the third in the trilogy, Monsters of Men, finally taking home the prize.  Other accolades include being named to the Publishers Weekly Best Books of the Year list, the ALA Best Books for Young Adults list, and Booklist Editors’ Choice.

Here’s hoping Lionsgate gets this one right…
