Johnny Depp eyes Thin Man remake

From DHD – Color me excited! Johnny Depp is interested in starring in a remake of the classic film The Thin Man, with Pirates pal Rob Marsall as a possible director. Warner Bros is rounding up potential scribes to pen the remake. Depp and his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski are producing with Kevin McCormick. The film would be period, but with a stylized flare a la Sherlock Holmes.

Based on the book by Dashiell Hammett, The Thin Man is a legendary comic detective franchise that spanned seven films. Its popularity was largely based on the chemistry between William Powell and Myrna Loy, who starred as Nick and Nora Charles, THE it couple of classic films. Nick is a former detective who adores his rich, witty wife and together they solve murder cases, mostly for fun. (Depp would play Nick, no word yet on who would play Nora.)

These movies are vintage Hollywood classics – do this right, and it could be a whole lot of fun.

But who would make the perfect Nora for Depp’s Nick?
