Guillermo Del Toro and David Eick take on The Hulk

From DHD – Now this is an interesting pairing. Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labryinth, Hellboy) and David Eick (Battlestar Galactica) are teaming up to create a new TV version of The Hulk for ABC. Hailing from Marvel TV and ABC Studios, the remake will be Guillermo’s first TV project and true to Guillermo form, he will oversee the design of the new Hulk and bring prosthetics and puppetry into the mix (instead of pure CGI, a la the movies). Del Toro and Eick will break the story and share created by credit. For the pilot, Eick will write and del Toro will direct, subject to his availability. Gary Ungar of Exile, Marvel TV topper Jeph Loeb and Marvel Entertainment’s chief creative officer Joe Quesada will also executive produce.

So when will the Green be back? Probably not until 2012, given the prep work required – and seeing as Marvel is releasing The Avengers summer 2012 (which includes The Hulk), marketing logic would put The Hulk on TV no earlier than Fall 2012.

Details of the premise are unknown, but an origin story seems like a safe bet…
