A new Pinocchio for the big screen

From Variety – Pinocchio, the famous wooden puppet who dreamed of becoming a boy, is set to come to life once more. Warner Bros. has picked up a live-action feature adaptation of the classic tale from producer Dan Jinks. Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) has been tapped to script. Nick Nantell, vice president of development at the Dan Jinks Co., will be involved in a producing capacity. Pinocchio is the first film project for Jinks at his eponymous banner, set up earlier this year.

The story of Pinocchio first appeared in 1883 in Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio. And of course, we all know the Walt Disney version from 1940.

I think Bryan Fuller, the creative mind behind the late, lamented Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls, is an inspired choice to write this adaptation. You can always count on Bryan Fuller to be sweet, quirky, and original.

This is one to keep an eye on…
