First look at Frozen, DIsney’s next animated feature

There were already plenty of reasons to be excited for Frozen, Disney’s 53rd animated film – not only is it based on Hans Christian Anderson’s The Snow Queen, but it will also feature such vocal talent as Kristin Bell (aka Veronica Mars) and Idina Menzel (a Tony award winner for her role in Wicked), who will be singing original music composed by none other than Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (the powerhouse team behind Book of Mormon) – and did I mention the movie is being directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan) and Jennifer Lee (who wrote Wreck it Ralph)? And if all that wasn’t enough for you, Disney has now released official concept art for us to ogle (see above and below).

But what of the story, you ask? Here’s what Disney has to say:

When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, and put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

Or, as Disney marketing would have it: “The coolest comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen!”

So get ready – Scandinavian style ice-scapes, sisterly drama, and magic shenanigans galore are coming your way November 27, 2013.
