Honestly, this show drives me nuts. Because despite gorgeous animation, a killer soundtrack, and some seriously cool ideas, it’s just not working – because it keeps entirely missing its own point. See, this is supposed to be Korra’s story, isn’t it? And while, sure, her name is on the title and she’s almost always on screen, so far this story has been about everything BUT her – The Equalists! The Angry Spirits! The Action! The Plot Machinations! But hey, wait, what about Korra? Where is her character arc? Where is her growth, her change, her agency – what is HER story? Well, the painful answer is, she doesn’t get one. Korra is a ghost in her own show – and that needs to change. So come on, book three. Bring the character. Because frankly, I don’t know how much longer I can stand to wait…
No official word yet on when The Legend of Korra: Book 3 returns to Nickelodeon – but I suspect they’ll announce it at Comic-con.
I know! So disappointing. I’ll stay for the art, but for an actual story I’ll just watch Aang again. This year will make our 6th rewatch, I think.
YES, me too. And I totally re-watch A:TLA about once a year :)
