From DHD – CBS Films has snapped up the rights to Marie Lu’s upcoming dystopian YA novel, Legend, the first of a trilogy. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight) will produce through their Temple Hill banner; Lu will be involved in the scripting stage as an executive producer. Legend is Marie Lu’s first novel, and will be published by Penguin Group this November.
Story takes place in a dark future, when North America is split into two warring nations. Legend focuses on Day, a young Robin Hood figure, and June, a teenage prodigy who is hired to hunt him down. Along the way, the two of them uncover an impossible truth about their totalitarian leaders.

Legend takes place in 2130 A.D., in Los Angeles, Republic of America, which is at war against the other, flooded half of the continent, the so-called Colonies.
It tells the story of Day, a famous 15-year-old boy criminal struggling to survive undetected in what remains of the United States, and June, the 15-year-old girl prodigy hired to hunt him down. When their paths cross, the truth they uncover together will become legend.
