From DHD: The Hollywood fairy tale blitz continues – in one of the biggest spec deals this year, Universal has inked a multi-million dollar deal to land Snow White and the Huntsman, a revisionist take on the classic fairy tale, written by Evan Daughtery. Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) will produce and Rupert Sanders (the guy who directed all those Halo commercials) is attached to direct.
So we’ve seen the live action Alice in Wonderland, a live action Red Riding Hood is arriving soon, a live action revisionist Hansel and Gretel is in the works, as is a live action The Little Mermaid, and a live action Pinocchio recently made a deal.
Much as I love fairy tales, this is getting a tad ridiculous. Oh Hollywood, you and your clones…
