Relativity’s Snow White lands director

From Variety – Of the three Snow White projects currently in development at various studios, it looks like Relativity Media’s adaptation will be the first out of the gate. Relativity Media has finalized a deal with Tarsem Singh (The Fall) to direct its untitled Snow White feature, based on the Brothers Grimm story and written by Melissa Wallack. Production is set to begin in March.

Relativity’s Snow White will be an edgier, modern take on the classic tale. After her evil stepmother kills her father and destroys the kingdom, Snow White bands together with a gang of seven quarrelsome dwarves to reclaim what is rightly hers.

The other two Snow White projects currently in development are Snow White and the Huntsman at Universal and Snow White and the Seven at Disney (and in the Disney version, the dwarves are Shaolin monks).

Hopefully at least one of them will be decent…
