From DHD – Another day, another fairy tale remake. This time it’s Paramount’s Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters moving forward, with the studio setting Famke Janssen (X-Men) to play the leader of the (presumably evil) witches in this edgy retelling of the classic tale. Janssen joins the previously cast Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker) and Gemma Arterton (Tamara Drewe), who are on board to play the famous siblings. Tommy Wirkola will direct, and Gary Sanchez Prods is producing.
Story follows Hansel and Gretel 15 years after their narrow escape from the gingerbread house. Now all grown up, the siblings have become fearsome bounty-hunters, dedicated to taking down the witches that almost killed them.
Well, if they keep making these things, at least one of them has to be good, right? At least, we can hope….
