DC’s Raven in development at The CW

From Variety – Joining the likes of Wonder Woman and The Hulk, another comics superhero is on the hunt for a TV series to call their own: The CW is developing DC Comic’s Raven as a one hour series, with Diego Gutierrez (V) set to write and exec produce. Project hails from Warner Bros. TV and DC Entertainment.

Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, Raven follows Rachel Roth, a half demon who uses her powers (which include wide-ranging empathic abilities, healing powers, flight, teleportation, astral projection, and other sorcerous gifts) to fight crime, though she struggles to keep her dark side in check. In DC comics lore, Raven is a founding member of the New Teen Titans (and you might know her from the animated Teen Titans series).

The CW (and the WB before it) has a less than perfect record with adapting DC properties – Smallville has been the show that won’t die, but Aquaman never got out of the pilot stage, and Birds of Prey crashed and burned after one season. So your guess is as good as mine as to which way this one will go…
