From Variety – And Alloy Entertainment continues its hot streak, with a pilot pick up at Nickelodean. Pilot is a sitcom based on a new Alloy series by Meg Haston, How to Rock Braces and Glasses – the project was developed as a book and TV property simultaneously (just as The Lying Game and Nine Lives were). Cymphonique Miller (Master P’s daughter) will star; David Israel and Jim O’Doherty (Grounded for Life) will write the adaptation. Israel will also exec produce along with Alloy’s Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo.
Story revolves around Kacey, a popular girl whose status takes a dive after she’s saddled with braces and glasses. Now shunned by the mean girls, Kacey finds a new way to shine — through her music. Look for the book to hit shelves in September.
Between this project and Victorious, Nickelodean is definitely aiming to put a dent in Disney’s teen music scene domination. Well, good luck with that…
