From Moviephone – John Carpenter has come on board to direct Darkchylde, a feature adaptation of Randy Queen’s comic series about a Southern teen who becomes the creatures from her nightmares. Carpenter joins Sandy King’s Storm King Productions, and Randy & Sarah Queen’s Darkchylde Entertainment to produce the film.
Richard Taylor’s Academy Award-winning Weta Workshop will help bring the dark visions to life, and they’ve already released some test effects for the film (below).

What if the monsters from your many recurring nightmares were real? What if they wanted to escape your dreams, and consume our world, hitchhiking out on your very flesh to do it?
Darkchylde is the story of a cursed teen who can become the creatures from her many nightmares, and then must save her small town from the forces of darkness she’s set free.
