Walter Mitty remake in the works

A remake of the 1947 film “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”, itself based on James Thurber’s classic short story, is underway at Twentieth Century Fox. The studio is agressively moving ahead with the long-gestating project, inking a deal with Gore Verbinski to direct the updated version. Steve Conrad (”The Pursuit of Happyness”) is working on the script. Insiders say Verbinski could begin lensing “Walter Mitty” as early as spring. .

“Walter Mitty” is the story of a day-dreaming book editor who can’t seem to do anything right, so he imagines all sorts exciting lives for himself.The 1947 film, starring Danny Kaye, was described as a loose adaptation.
